Mobile Chiaroscuro is a collection of black and white images made on a mobile phone camera.

In 2015 I created a concept photo book inspired by the Mobile Chiaroscuro series. The softcover book has no front or back. It’s titled “Fixed and Free”, a play on molecules in solid and gaseous states of matter. I imagine photons in rigid formation (hard light) or spread and diffused (soft light). Open the book on one side for strong contrast images with harsh light. Flip the book around for photos with soft edges and a gentler feel.
